How to Get Prestige Tokens

The Prestige Shop in MW3 seems to have confused a lot of people.

Prestige tokens work a bit differently than in previous Call of Duty games.  Once you hit level 80 in multiplayer you unlock prestige mode (or if you prestiged in one of the previous four Call of Duty games, it will be unlocked immediately).  Once you hit 10th prestige at that point you can finally reset everything (progress, stats, unlocks, etc) like you did in at first prestige in previous Call of Duty games.

In the prestige shop, you can spend prestige tokens for special bonuses.  Here is how you can earn prestige tokens:

  • Each time you prestige, you get a prestige token.  You can do this up to the maximum 10th prestige
  • Complete campaign mode
  • Complete spec ops mode
  • Complete campaign on Veteran difficulty
  • Spec ops challenges
  • Prestige in Black Ops
  • Prestige in MW2
  • Prestige in World at War
  • Prestige in CoD4

Here are the things you can buy with prestige tokens:

  • Additional custom class slot
  • 2 hours of Double XP
  • 2 hours of Double XP for your weapons
  • Callsign Title and Emblem for Regular Package
  • Callsign Title and Emblem for Hardened Package
  • Callsign Title and Emblem for Veteran Package
  • Permanent unlock (you can permanently unlock a perk, weapon, or equipment that won’t ever reset even when you prestige again.  Note that items unlocked as prestige bonuses is automatically permanently unlocked.  This applies instead to normal weapons/equipment/perks that would typically reset.
  • Complete stat reset (only available on 10th prestige)

XP Boosting

A good way to boost your XP quickly is to combine the Specialist Killstreak package with the Hardline perk.  You have to be leveled up to lvl 20 in order to use the Specialist Killstreak package, so that is a requirement to do this and you’ll have to grind your way to level 20 legitimately first.

Once you’re at level 20, go in to the barracks and make a class with the Hardline perk and Specialist Killstreak package.  Now you’ll get extra XP for your 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th kills each time.  In addition to this you’re doubling up on your challenge bonuses.  You’ll be completing the perk’s challenge plus the specialist challenge on each perk at the same time because each perk has a specialist perk in addition to it.

As an example, if you unlock something at 1 kill you will be completing the challenges for that and the specialist challenges for that at the same time.  This will give you loads of bonus XP, plus you’ll get the bonus 200 XP each time you hit 1, 3, 5, and 7 kills.  If you can get beyond those without dying you also get extra points for kills 8-10 if you have the perks turned on.

Gold Weapon Camo

Perhaps “camo” is a bad word, since making your camo a bright gold doesn’t make it very stealth, but you can unlock the gold camo for a weapon by maxing out the rank for that weapon.  To max out the rank for a weapon you will need to use it regularly so pick a few favorite guns and focus on maxing them out if gold camo is something that you’re after.

Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay Footage Debuts

Call of Duty is the biggest franchise in the video game world right now, and the latest incarnation, Modern Warfare 3, looks set to be the most realistic military game ever created. Modern Warfare 2 was the biggest entertainment launch in history, not only eclipsing all other video games in history, but all forms of entertainment. This is proof beyond all doubt that the Call of Duty franchise doesn’t just appeal to hardcore gamers, but to a huge cross section of society. It goes without saying that the game made an absolute fortune.

Activision are determined to outdo themselves and make Modern Warfare 3 another landmark title, and to achieve this they have enlisted the help of two of the most accomplished developers in the gaming industry, Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward (who were the developers of CoD: MW2.) This development dream team look set to create one of the most cinematic, immersing experiences ever found in a video game.

Cinematic is the correct word to describe MW: 3. As far as the demos and trailers have revealed, playing it is like putting yourself deep into the heart of a huge Hollywood blockbuster. The super sharp graphics, deeply compelling plot and vast scale of this game make it every bit the silver screen experience, with the added element of interactivity to keep you on your toes.

In the demo, we can see an incredibly realistic model of the lower portion of Manhattan. The depth is incredible, with each window of every skyscraper being painstakingly modeled for the most detailed realism ever seen in a video game. We can see New York being swarmed by the Russian military, with the yet to be completed Freedom Tower standing in the distance. The developers promise to deliver realistic combat action in a global scale, with London, Dubai, Moscow and the Himalayas being recreated with the same depth, among others.

The other exciting element that MW: 3 brings to the table is “Call of Duty Elite”, a social network based around Call of Duty. This social network will be tightly integrated into MW:3’s spectacular multiplayer mode, and allows you to integrate your Facebook friendbase and Twitter followers into your CoD game play experience. This integration will extend the multiplayer gaming experience to the logical conclusion, where it becomes a truly social affair.

Modern Warfare 3 will launch with an almighty, militaristic marketing bang on November 8th this year, and we’re greatly looking forward to it. In the meantime, you can join the beta version of the Call of Duty Elite social networking site at http://www.callofduty.com/elite

Modern Warfare 3 Release Date

Prior to the big Modern Warfare 3 info leak, there was a lot of speculation that Modern Warfare 3 would release on November 11th.  The 11-11-11 moniker just seemed like something that the activision marketing team would be unable to ignore.  We all know they have a propensity for the dramatic.  I’m sure everyone remembers how they marketed the Modern Warfare 2 release, with the 11, then 10, then 09 appearing successively in large glowing green text with a ripple static sound effect playing behind each.  You can imagine how the marketers would salivating about being able to do something similar with 11-11-11.

But, that is just a dream, because a much more sensible date of November 8th (11-8-11) has been chosen for the MW3 release date.

It makes sense when you think about it, as November 8th is a Tuesday, and traditionally most games release on a Tuesday.  While Activision would not be one to back down from bucking the trend, Tuesday is a common release date for a reason, and releasing on a Friday would likely not be good for first day sales.

So there you have it, November 8th, 2011 is set as the release date for Modern Warfare 3.  On that fateful Tuesday, we’ll all finally have our hands on the next iteration of the Modern Warfare franchise and will finally be able to put Black Ops behind us.
